Articles of Faith

The following are the core beliefs of Serenity Church - IL based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Prayer

We believe in the power, and importance, of prayer. We are committed to corporate and private devotion. As the saying going “where there is much prayer there is much power.”
“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
 James 5:16


Worship

We believe in the importance of sincere and expressive worship.
 “But the time is coming – indeed it’s here now – when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:23-24


Fellowship

We believe in the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and fellowship.
“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”
Philippians 2:1-2


Diversity

We believe that each person is unique and valuable. It is the will of God that every person belongs to a family of faith where they have a strong sense of being valued and loved.
“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”
Romans 12:5


Financial Stewardship

Financial stewardship is the prerequisite to generosity. We
commit ourselves to learning how to properly manage, and be good stewards, of our finances so we can live well, serve, and love without the burden of excessive debt.
“Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.”
Proverbs 13:11


Generosity

We believe we are blessed to be a blessing to others.
“For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide an increase your resource and the produce a great harvest of generosity in you.”
2 Corinthians 9:10


Scholarship

We believe in scholarship and the development of inquiry, critical thinking, and continual education.
 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that god and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
